Place du Souvenir – Gatineau
This multidisciplinary project, carried out in collaboration with CIMA+, CSW Landscape Archi-tects Ltd and our OMIUM team (Ombrages and ARIUM design), is part of the integrated urban revitalization of Vieux-Gatineau. The initiative aims to reclassify and to restore life to the Place du Souvenir, a commemorative space located at the intersection of East Maloney Boulevard and Notre Dame Street.
This emblematic site houses Gatineau’s Cenotaph, paying homage to the Canadian soldiers who served in World War I, World War II and the Korean War.
Our team created the concept and the industrial design of the sculptured lamps inspired by the poppy, the universal symbol of remembrance, as well as the lighting plan of the site. These poetic installations made of flower-shaped lights evoke memory, resilience and renewed peace. Their red glow and subtle presence translate the beauty of memory that transcends time, through the work of light.
Whether day or night, the site comes to life and reveals all of its commemorative dimension in perfect harmony with the urban landscape.
