Réseau Express Métropolitain (REM)
One of Canada’s TOP 100 INFRASTRUCTURE project with its 67 km of track and 26 stations, the Réseau express métropolitain (REM) is one of the longest automated metro lines in the world. It links Montreal, South Shore, West Island, North Shore, and the airport, thus facilitating mobility for all.
ARIUM Design collaborated with NouvLR to design the wayfinding strategy and signage for the entire network, in coordination with CDPQ Infra, ARTM, and STM, to ensure seamless integration with the metropolitan wayfinding & signage system. The signage design reflects the Réseau express métropolitain (REM)’s brand image while adhering to universal accessibility principles, due to the knowledge of highly specialized experts.
Through focus groups, the project was also validated to ensure its functionality and relevance. The results: an aesthetic, inclusive, and seamlessly integrated wayfinding system that enhances the Réseau express métropolitain (REM)’s visual identity within the Montreal landscape. This project included interior and exterior wayfinding, as well as signage for parking areas and maintenance facilities.
